THE REAL ME

Updated: Mar 14, 2020

I was fed up with my life choices.

Why had I picked this one? It had been my own decision, and I’d ignored everyone’s advice. I had lived like this for thirty years, and I’d had enough.

I sat there in the dreary, empty bathroom, throwing the ping-pong ball against the wall – back and forth, back and forth – until I was mesmerised by the sound.

Ping…pong…ping…pong for hours and hours. It was all of human contact to me – and I vowed to change my life. I’d decided to listen to the real me.

Next morning I was going to resign as a Trappist monk.
